Loom and Cap: include the video costs

When keeping the current tool may make sense
Loom may still suit teams that rely on its established capture experience, collaboration, accessibility, enterprise controls or transcription workflows. Check those requirements before comparing only the subscription price.
Costs that belong in the comparison
Video needs more than a small application server. Include object storage, playback bandwidth, processing, transcripts, retention and backups. Existing video libraries and peak uploads influence both migration and ongoing cost.
What to verify before a move
- Record on the devices and operating systems your team actually uses.
- Test playback, sharing permissions, expired links and a slow connection.
- Measure representative file sizes and expected monthly recordings.
- Test transcription separately and confirm deletion, export and recovery behavior.
